Kérastase for Damaged Hair

The right Kérastase for damaged hair depends on what caused the damage. Bleach and chemical services, regular heat styling and weak hair that snaps each need a different approach, so this page brings the Première, Résistance and Genesis ranges together for you to compare. Everything is genuine Kérastase at 25% off RRP from our Gold Coast salons.

Advice from our stylists

Première, Résistance or Genesis: which suits my damage?
Your hair Range Start with
Bleached, permed or straightened; stiff, dull or snapping Première Première Bain, $48.75 (RRP $65)
Weak and brittle, with split ends from colour or heat Résistance Bain Force Architecte, $48 (RRP $64)
Weakened and falling due to breakage, fine or oily scalp Genesis Bain Hydra-Fortifiant, $48 (RRP $64)
Weakened and falling due to breakage, thick or dry Genesis Bain Nutri-Fortifiant, $48 (RRP $64)
What does decalcifying mean?

Calcium from tap water builds up inside damaged, porous hair, which makes it feel stiff and look dull. The Première range uses citric acid to lift that calcium, then glycine, an amino acid, moves into the hair to help re-form links between keratin chains and reduce breakage. For the full routine, apply Première Pre-Shampoo Treatment to wet lengths for five minutes without rinsing, lather Première Bain over the top, then follow with Première Fondant or Première Masque. We often suggest it on the day of a lightening service and in the weeks after. If you live in a hard-water area, keep the Bain as your regular wash.

How often should I use a repair mask?

Use Première Filler Masque once or twice a week for at least five minutes, and rinse with lukewarm water. On the other wash days, use Première Fondant. Keeping a conditioner and a mask on rotation gives damaged hair steady care without overloading it. For weakened hair, Genesis Masque Reconstituant works two to three times a week on thin hair, and on thick hair it can replace conditioner. Which heat protectant suits damaged hair?

Première Filler Fondamental Serum protects up to 230°C and repels humidity, which suits frizz-prone, bleached hair. Résistance Blow-Dry Primer protects up to 180°C and helps cut down blow-drying time. Genesis Thermique protects up to 220°C and detangles to limit breakage from brushing. Whichever you choose, comb it through before the brush comes out. See every option in our heat protection guide.

Can split ends be repaired?

No product can join a split back together, so a trim is the only way to remove what is already split. After that, Première Huile Gloss seals split ends and brings back shine, and Résistance Ciment Anti-Usure is a daily conditioner that helps seal split ends. A drop of oil on the ends mid-week keeps them looking sealed between trims.
