How do I stop my blonde going brassy?

Brassiness is warm yellow and orange tone showing through, and oxidation is one of the causes. Use Bain Ultra-Violet once or twice a week. Its violet pigments cancel out the warmth, and you can leave it on longer when the yellow is obvious or just lather and rinse for a light top-up. Once a week, swap your conditioner for Masque Ultra-Violet on towel-dried hair, for three to five minutes and no longer than five. On every other wash day, use Bain Lumière.

Purple shampoo or Bain Lumière?

Most blondes need both, used for different jobs. Bain Lumière is not a purple shampoo. It is a clear, hydrating, silicone-free wash that clears away the dulling residue that makes blonde look flat, and it is mild enough for every day. Bain Ultra-Violet is the corrector. Overdoing purple products is the most common reason we see blondes looking dull and greyish, especially very light blondes, so build your routine around Bain Lumière and bring in purple only when warmth shows.

What should I use in the weeks after bleaching?

Hair is at its most fragile in the first couple of weeks after a lightening service. Use Masque Cicaextreme for five minutes on those wash days, and alternate with Cicaflash Fondant on lighter days. Cicaextreme has no pigment, so if you also need toning, use Masque Ultra-Violet on a separate wash rather than mixing the two. After your first wash, apply Blond Absolu Hyaluronic Acid Hair Serum to the scalp and lengths two to three times a week. It has 2% hyaluronic acid, the highest concentration Kérastase uses in any hair product. For hair that breaks or frizzes, two to four pumps of Night Serum on the lengths before bed works while you sleep. For heavier damage, see our damaged hair guide.

Does purple shampoo work on grey or silver hair?

Yes. Bain Ultra-Violet and Masque Ultra-Violet are both made for grey and silver hair that has picked up a warm cast, as well as cool, ash and platinum blondes. The masque will not stain or turn hair purple when used as directed. Towel-dry properly first, because on dripping hair the pigment dilutes and toning is patchy, and apply to the most yellow areas first. For the full range story, see Blond Absolu.
