Which Kérastase serum is best for hair loss?

Genesis Serum Anti-Chute Fortifiant is the one we're asked about most in the salon. It's a daily scalp serum for weakened hair that falls because it breaks, made with Aminexil, edelweiss native cells and ginger root. Apply it to a dry or towel-dried scalp each day; like any scalp treatment, it works through steady daily use rather than the odd application.
For men, Genesis Homme Sérum Fortifiant is built for weakened hair that's prone to thinning, and pairs with the rest of the Genesis Homme range.
One honest note from our stylists: if you're losing hair suddenly, in patches, or after illness or a big life change, see your GP. Serums support hair that's breaking; they don't treat medical hair loss.

What is the best Kérastase serum for dry hair?

Nutritive 8H Magic Night Serum is a leave-in you apply before bed, so it can nourish dry hair overnight while you sleep. Smooth a pump or two through your lengths and ends on dry hair; you wake up to softer, more manageable hair without having to wash it out. It's one of Kérastase's best sellers for good reason.

Is there a Kérastase serum for split ends?

Yes: Nutritive Nutri-Supplement Split Ends Serum is a rich, sealing serum for dry hair with split ends. We'll be straight with you, though. No product permanently joins a split end back together; only a trim removes it. What a good serum does is seal and smooth the ends so they look better and are less likely to split further between appointments.

What is the best Kérastase serum for blonde hair?

Lightened hair loses moisture quickly, so hydration is the priority. Blond Absolu Hyaluronic Acid Serum has the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid in any Kérastase hair product, and it's made specifically for blonde and lightened hair. It's light enough to use from scalp to ends during the day.
If you'd rather treat your hair overnight, Blond Absolu Night Serum is the blonde equivalent of 8H Magic Night Serum: a lightweight hyaluronic acid serum that restores lightened hair while you sleep.

Which Kérastase serum is best for damaged, frizzy hair?

Première Filler Fondamental Serum is a lightweight leave-in from the Première repair range, designed for all types of damaged hair. It repairs, smooths frizz and adds shine without feeling heavy, which makes it a good everyday serum for hair that's been through bleach, heat or both.

What is the best Kérastase scalp serum?

It depends on your scalp. Spécifique Potentialiste is a daily serum that helps keep the scalp balanced and protected from everyday aggressors, with an immediate cooling feel. Nutritive Nutri-Supplement Scalp Serum is for a dry scalp: a niacinamide serum that nourishes and comforts it.

Which Kérastase serum protects coloured hair from heat?

Chroma Absolu Sérum Chroma Thermique is a leave-in heat protector for colour-treated hair. It fights frizz and has antioxidant properties to help protect your colour when you blow-dry or straighten. Apply it to towel-dried hair before styling.

Scalp serum or hair serum: what's the difference?
Scalp serums, like Genesis, Potentialiste and Nutri-Supplement Scalp, go directly onto the skin of your scalp and target what's happening at the root. Hair serums, like 8H Magic Night Serum, Première Filler and the split ends serum, go on your lengths and ends to treat the hair itself. Many of our clients use one of each: a scalp serum in the morning and a lengths serum at night.
How to apply a Kérastase serum
- Scalp serums: part dry or towel-dried hair into sections and apply along each part, then massage in with your fingertips. Don't rinse.
- Lengths serums: warm a small amount between your palms and smooth it through mid-lengths and ends, keeping it away from the roots if your hair is fine.
- Night serums: apply to dry hair before bed and sleep on it. There's nothing to wash out in the morning.
- Check the pack for how much to use, as each formula is slightly different.
Frequently asked questions
Do Kérastase serums help with hair loss?
Genesis serums are designed for weakened hair that falls because it breaks, and they work best with daily use. They aren't a treatment for medical hair loss, so if you're losing hair suddenly or in patches, see your GP.
Should I apply a serum in the morning or at night?
Scalp serums like Genesis and Potentialiste are usually applied once a day, whenever suits you. Night serums such as 8H Magic Night Serum and Blond Absolu Night Serum go on before bed.
Can I use two Kérastase serums together?
Yes, as long as one is for the scalp and one is for the lengths. For example, Genesis on the scalp in the morning and 8H Magic Night Serum on the ends at night. We don't recommend layering two lengths serums at once.
8H Magic Night Serum or Blond Absolu Night Serum?
If your hair is blonde or lightened, choose Blond Absolu Night Serum. For any other dry hair, 8H Magic Night Serum is the one.
