How Much Does Hair Colour Cost on the Gold Coast?

"How much will it cost?" is the first question most people ask before booking colour, and it's a fair one. Hair colour prices vary a lot between salons and between clients, so here's an honest guide to what you'll pay at our Oxenford and Upper Coomera salons, what changes the price, and how to keep your colour looking great without overspending.

What changes the price of hair colour?

• Hair length and thickness. Longer or thicker hair needs more product and more time, which is why all-over colour ranges from $128 for short hair to $208 for extra long.
• The technique. A regrowth touch-up is quicker than a full head of foils. Micro foils take longer again because the sections are finer, which gives a more blended result.
• How big the change is. Going a shade darker is simple. Going from dark brown to blonde can take more than one session, so transformations are priced at consultation.
• Your stylist's level. Our pricing reflects each stylist's training and experience, so you can choose the level that suits your budget.
• Add-ons. A toner, gloss or bond-building treatment adds to the bill, but often makes the colour last longer and keeps your hair healthier.

How much is a full head of foils?

At our salons, a full head of classic foils starts from $199 and a full head of micro foils from $275. Most blondes also add a toner (from $60) to fine-tune the shade. If you want a complete blonde refresh in one visit, The Blonde Edit includes full-head foils, a custom gloss toner, bond building and a blow-dry finish, from $508 for medium hair. How much does it cost to cover grey hair?

Grey coverage usually means regrowth colour every four to six weeks, from $116. If you'd rather come in less often, grey blending uses fine highlights and lowlights so the regrowth line is much softer, and most clients come back every eight to twelve weeks. What colour costs over a year

The price per visit is only half the story. How often you need to come back matters just as much. Two examples using our "from" prices:

• Full grey coverage: regrowth colour every five weeks is about 10 visits a year, or around $1,160.
• Grey blending: half head foils every ten weeks is about 5 visits a year, or around $830.

Five ways to get more from your colour

1. Choose a softer grow-out. Balayage, root stretches and blended colour can stretch the time between appointments.
2. Book a gloss between colours. A toner or gloss from $60 refreshes tone and shine, so you can push your next full colour back.
3. Use colour-safe products at home. The Kérastase Chroma Absolu range is made for coloured hair, and Blond Absolu for lightened hair. Both are 25% off in our online store.
