Why is frizz worse on the Gold Coast?
Humidity. When the air is full of moisture, dry or rough hair takes it up and the surface stops lying flat. So a blow-dry that looks smooth when you leave the house can puff out by lunchtime, and the hairline and crown usually go first. Good frizz care does two things: it hydrates the hair and it smooths the surface. Then you dry the hair properly, so there is no dampness left in it.
What is the best Kérastase for frizz in humidity?
Frizz-Glaze Cream is the one for thick hair that puffs up. This silicone-free leave-in is designed to keep a blow-dry smooth for days, even when the weather turns humid and hot. It keeps hydration in and repels humidity. Massage it through towel-dried lengths and ends, and use a little more at the hairline and crown.
Gloss Absolu Spray is a milky all-in-one for long hair that frizzes. It detangles and hydrates, holds off frizz even in high humidity, and protects from heat up to 230°C. The texture is light, and it is safe on colour-treated hair.
Glaze Drops finishes the routine with a high-gloss look and long-lasting frizz control. On fine hair, start with two drops and stay below the ears. Our hair oil guide compares it with the other three oils.
What should I use on frizzy curls?
Crème de Jour Fondamentale hydrates, defines and gives all-day frizz control and humidity protection, from curly through to coily hair. Between washes, Refresh Absolu ($57.75) brings back definition and helps protect against humidity. If you have natural waves and thicker hair, Gloss Absolu Crème Hydra-Glaze also helps define curl.
Where do Elixir Ultime and Première fit?
Elixir Ultime ($88.50) controls frizz and reduces flyaways on all hair types, so it is a good finisher. It does not make a humidity claim, though, so we would not rely on it alone in summer. If your frizz comes from damage, Première Filler Fondamental Serum ($79.50) repels humidity and states heat protection up to 230°C. See Première vs Résistance for more on that range.
How do I blow-dry so frizz stays away?
- Squeeze excess water out before conditioner, and use the leave time. Insta Glaze needs three to five minutes.
- On towel-dried hair, apply your leave-in section by section, so the underneath is covered too.
- Comb it through.
- Dry with the nozzle pointing down the hair. That direction is what gives a sleek finish.
- Dry each section completely. Any dampness left in the hair is where frizz comes back.
- Finish with a few drops of oil through the lengths and ends.
With curls, apply your cream while the hair is still quite wet, then leave it alone until fully dry. Touching curls while they dry is a common cause of frizz, especially on a humid day.
